Why I do this work

We all feel frustrated and helpless when faced with a bureaucracy that we do not completely understand. It seems like everyone else pays fewer taxes and always gets a larger refund.

My clients feel in control of their finances and taxes because they call me when they are in need of help or advice. Here are some of the problems I have solved for my clients.

  • California Franchise Tax Board is telling me I owe them $1,889 for tax year 2001. I did not file because I did not make any money that year. Can you help me so I do not owe that money?
  • I am being audited for 2009. The person who prepared my taxes will not answer my calls. Can you help me?
  • The government is charging me a $1,232 penalty for filing my taxes late. I filed late because I was busy taking care of my sick parents. Can you help me?
  • I have a small amount of cash left over every month, but I have $3,550 credit card debt. Should I pay off the debt or contribute to my retirement plan?
  • My son is a student who works part time. Should I claim him or should he claim himself?
  • I am tired of being a landlord. How much tax will I pay if I sell my properties. I have heard of a “tax deferred exchange.” Can you tell me how it works and if it’s right for me?
  • I am starting a small business. What deductions can I take? Can you help me set up my quarterly payments?
  • I rent out part of my house; what will happen if I sell?
  • Can and should I take an office in home? I have heard it is a “red flag.” What happens when I sell my house?

I work with small businesses, non-profits, small corporations, LLC’s, partnerships, estates and trusts. I have a network of people I call if I feel unsure about something.

What tax-related problem or question can I solve for you?
